Shannon & Alex | Aberdeen Wedding Photographer
22/11/2021
In October 2020, I received an email from Shannon enquiring about my availability for their wedding on 6th October 2021 at Durn House, Portsoy Aberdeenshire. We scheduled a phone call to have a chat about their day.
They'd be travelling up from England to the fabulous Durn House in Portsoy, Aberdeenshire, for their wedding day. Map to find Durn House
What an absolute privilege as an Aberdeen wedding photographer.
Fast forward to October 2021, well 4th October 2021. Time for another quick chat about the day. Shannon and Alex are going to travel up to Scotland in a camper van. They are going to honeymoon around the North Coast 500 afterwards. With timings all sorted and confirmed, it was time for the big day.

With the ceremony at 11-am (just a short 2-hour elopement wedding), I was up on a lovely sunny October morning. The car was packed, with too much equipment as usual.
I arrive at Durn House in plenty of time as usual. A quick check of the ceremony room to find out the layout and the lighting. Well, I am a perfectionist!
Then it's off to find Shannon and Alex and get ready for the ceremony. With Alex down in the ceremony room, I stayed with Shannon to photograph her as she made her way down to become Mrs Hewson.

With the ceremony complete and the happy couple enjoying a glass of bubbly, I planned the first of their coupe portraits. By making use of the fireplace and lounge in Durn House, I created
a lovely intimate bridal photo of the happy couple.

From here, we went outside to make the most of the lovely October sunshine. When you have a stunning setting like Durn House, you really must make the best use of the grounds.

Once we had completed the photos in the grounds, we returned indoors for some final bridal photos, making full use of that spiral staircase.

Leaving the couple to enjoy the rest of their day, I headed home to start the edit of this truly wonderful wedding.
Wow! And this is why I love being an Aberdeen Wedding Photographer.
