I’m Mike, the photographer behind Fitlike
“Fit like?” — the North-East way of asking “how are you?”
I’m based in Elgin and photograph weddings across Inverness, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, the Highlands and further across Scotland, for couples who want the day captured in a way that feels natural, relaxed and true to them.
Having grown up in Caithness and now living in Moray, the Highlands are not just somewhere I travel for work. They shape how I see light, weather and space. I’ve been photographing weddings since 2014, and alongside that I spend a lot of time photographing Scotland’s landscapes — a background that has a big influence on how I work on a wedding day.
For me, good wedding photography is never about forcing moments or turning the day into a production. It’s about knowing when to step back, when to guide gently, and how to keep things feeling calm while still creating images that look polished and timeless.
I’m married myself, so I understand how quickly a wedding day moves and how important it is to feel looked after rather than managed. My aim is always to make things feel easy, so you can enjoy the day properly and come away with photographs that feel honest, elegant and full of life.
When I’m not photographing weddings, you’ll usually find me outdoors, spending time with family, or working on my landscape photography across Scotland.

How I work
Documentary first, gentle guidance where it counts
Most of what I capture is real — glances, reactions, nerves, laughter and atmosphere you may not notice at the time. The rest relies on experience: gentle portrait guidance, quick group photo organisation, and finding great light, even when Scotland surprises us.
I work mainly with digital cameras for reliability and consistency, and use 35mm analogue film for selected moments where the light, atmosphere and pace suit it. Finished galleries can become handcrafted Graphistudio albums — made to be held, not scrolled past.

I’m a professional member of The Societies of Photographers, holding Licentiate qualifications on both the wedding and landscape panels — independent recognition of consistent, professional-standard work.

My landscape photography background shapes how I shoot weddings. I read the scene, find clean backdrops, seek shelter if needed, and create portraits with whatever the day brings: soft clouds, wind and drama, or unexpected golden light.
