A Gorgeous Summer Wedding At Ardoe House Hotel Wedding Venue | Aberdeen Wedding Photographer.

Vicki contacted me through my website in late 2022 about photographing her wedding at Ardoe House Hotel in June 2023. She'd found me online and loved my work, so she eventually booked me for her wedding to Calum the following summer.

Fast-forward to a couple of weeks before their wedding. I hadn't met them in person, so I travelled down to Ardoe House Hotel to go over the final details and look around the venue, which was new to me.

On the morning of their wedding, I set off to St Cyrus, where they lived, for Bridal Prep. I arrived in good time on a lovely, warm morning.

Hair and makeup were underway as I arrived, so I candidly captured Vicki and her bridesmaids getting ready. I chatted with them all so they could get to know me, hopefully making everyone more relaxed.

Making my way to the living room, where the dress was hanging, I gathered Vicki's jewellery and accessories to photograph them for the detail shots, which helped tell the day's story.

Once everyone had finished with hair and makeup, they grabbed a bite to eat before it was time to get into their dresses. As I waited for them to prepare, I looked for great places to photograph Vicki, both alone and with the bridesmaids. Using the living room with its diffused window light for some portraits of Vicki, we went to the garden to capture the reveal with her Dad in the sunshine. With a lovely backdrop, we captured some photos with Dad and then the bridesmaids.

Once complete, it was time to make our way to Ardoe House. Arriving well before the bridal party allowed me to take photos with Calum and his best man.

Due to the glorious weather, their ceremony would be on the lawn for the Ardoe House wedding.

With the bridal cars arriving, it was time to capture Vicki's arrival and exit from the vehicles. As her mum couldn't reach St Cyrus, we grabbed the opportunity before the ceremony.

With the guests seated and Calum awaiting the arrival of his bride, I made my way to the front to capture the bridesmaids first, and then Vicki and her Dad walking her down the aisle, set against the backdrop of Ardoe House.

An emotional ceremony filled with love and laughter took place on the sun-drenched lawn. Following signing the register, I moved to the rear to capture the happy couple walking down the aisle as husband and wife for the first time.

A drinks reception followed; whilst the guests mingled and congratulated the couple, I set about capturing candid moments. These often missed moments by the couple will help relive the story of the day for the couple in years to come.

After letting them relax, I suggested moving on to the big group photo with everyone, followed by the family group photos, so the guests could return to socialising. I took Vicki and Calum for their couple portraits on the grounds. We had to do some inside this beautiful wedding venue before the guests were seated for the cake cutting, speeches, and wedding meal.

With the meal over, it was time for more candids. Some guests wanted their family portraits taken on this warm summer evening in the grounds of Ardoe House, the wedding venue.

Before you know it, it is time for the first dance. As always, I stay for a few dances after the first dance, as I like to get right in amongst everyone on the dance floor and capture the action.

And just like that, it was time to say my goodbyes, head home and reflect on another beautiful wedding.
