Wedding photography in Elgin, Moray & Speyside

There’s something about the light up here that makes everything feel a little more honest. It’s softer, it moves quickly, and it changes the mood of a scene in seconds; the skies seem bigger. If you’ve ever been out near the Moray coast or looked across the fields towards Speyside at golden hour, you’ll know what I mean.
That’s a big part of why Elgin weddings photograph so beautifully. Whether you’re planning something elegant and classic or a smaller day that’s all about the people, Moray gives you space. Being based in Elgin, I can easily cover weddings across the north of Scotland, from Inverness and the Highlands to Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Perthshire, and Fife. So you don’t have to compromise on your photographer just because your venue is a bit further afield.

How I photograph weddings

Most of your wedding day shouldn’t feel like a photoshoot. It should feel like you're living it.
My style is documentary-led, which basically means I’m watching for the moments that matter and capturing them as they happen. The nerves before you walk down the aisle. The way your pals react during speeches. The squeeze of a hand. The chaos on the dancefloor. All the parts you’ll forget in the blur, but will love seeing back.
I’ll guide you when you need it, especially during group photos and couple portraits, but I keep it easy. No awkward posing. No disappearing for ages. Just a calm bit of time together, with gentle direction so you look your best without feeling like you’re performing.
If you’re not comfortable in front of the camera, you’re exactly the kind of couple I work with all the time.

Couple portraits that don’t take over the day

The portrait part of the day should feel like a breather, not a mission.
We’ll step away for a short time, find good light, and keep things natural. You don’t need to know what to do with your hands or worry about “being photogenic”. I’ll guide you through it in a way that feels like the two of you, then we’ll get you back to your guests and your drinks while everything still feels effortless.
The aim is always the same. Photos that look timeless now, and still feel like you in twenty years.

Planning your wedding in Elgin

Elgin weddings can feel completely different depending on the season, and that’s part of the magic here. Winter brings atmosphere and candlelight. Spring has that fresh, clean energy. Summer gives you long evenings and the chance to be outdoors. Autumn has warmth, texture, and rich colour.
Once you’ve got your venue and date locked in, everything else starts to fall into place. Photography tends to be one of the most important bookings because so much of the day naturally revolves around it, especially timing-wise, with prep, ceremony, portraits, and the golden hour.
If you’re not sure how long you need coverage for, or what a realistic timeline looks like, I’ll help you shape it. The best wedding days aren’t rushed. They flow.

Elgin wedding photography pricing

You’ll see my pricing laid out clearly on my website, because I don’t believe in keeping couples guessing. My collections are built for real wedding days, with options that keep things simple, premium, and flexible, depending on what matters most to you.
When you enquire, I’ll chat through your plans, your venue, and the sort of day you’re creating. If we’re a good fit, we’ll secure your date, and everything else will fall into place. After that, I’m here whenever you need help, advice, or someone calm by your side.
After the wedding, every photo is handled with care: properly backed up, thoughtfully selected, and edited in my signature timeless style. I ensure your gallery feels consistent and natural but never heavy or trend-driven. My goal is to keep your images beautiful and relevant, giving you peace of mind about the longevity and security of your memories.

Why wedding photography still matters

The day goes fast. Faster than you think.
You’ll remember the big moments, of course, but it’s the in-between bits that are easiest to lose. The reactions. The emotion. The laughs that happen when nobody thinks you’re watching. The parts of your day you never even see because you’re in the middle of it.
That’s what I’m looking for, all day long.
Great wedding photography isn’t just about pretty portraits. It’s about giving you the full story back, exactly as it felt.

A quick word on choosing your photographer

Your photographer is one of the few suppliers who are with you from start to finish. You want someone you can relax around. Someone who knows how to handle pressure, tricky light, tight schedules, and emotional moments without making it about them.
If you’re comparing photographers in Elgin and Moray, look beyond the highlight reel. Ask to see full weddings, not just the best shots. You’ll learn a lot from consistency, how they handle real timelines, and whether their work still feels strong throughout an entire day.
If you’d like to chat, I’m happy to arrange a call, meet for coffee, or keep it simple over email.

Elgin Wedding Photographer FAQs

Do you mainly photograph weddings in Elgin and Moray?

Yes, Elgin and Moray are home territory for me, and I regularly photograph weddings here as well as in Caithness, the Highlands, Inverness, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, and other parts of Scotland. If you're planning a northern wedding, I likely know the light and venues here.

What’s your style of wedding photography?

Relaxed, natural, and story-led. Most of the day is photographed as it unfolds, with a calm documentary feel. When it’s time for group photos or couple portraits, I’ll guide you gently so you look your best without it feeling staged or awkward. The end result is polished, timeless images that still feel like you.

We’re not comfortable in front of the camera… is that a problem?

Not at all. Most couples tell me that at the start. You don’t need to “know how to pose” or perform for the camera. I’ll keep it simple, give you easy directions, and focus on making it feel relaxed. The best photos usually come from you being present with each other, not worrying about what you’re doing.

How long do you take us away for a couple of photos?

Not long. I’m a big believer that your wedding day is for enjoying, not disappearing for ages. Most of the time, we’ll do a short portrait session that feels like a breather together, then you’re straight back to your guests. If the light is beautiful later, we can sneak out again for a few minutes.

Do you help with timings and the wedding day plan?

Yes. If you’d like help shaping the flow of the day, I’m happy to advise. With extensive wedding experience, I know what keeps things calm, avoids rushing, and creates space for real moments. Whether your celebration is large or small, I offer practical guidance on timing to make the day feel effortless.

What if it rains on our wedding day?

In Moray, rain is always a possibility, but it’s never a disaster. A bit of weather often makes photos feel more dramatic and cinematic, especially in the landscapes around Elgin and along the nearby coast. I’ll work with whatever we get, find sheltered spots if needed, and keep everything relaxed so the weather doesn’t take over your day.

Do you photograph smaller weddings and elopements around Elgin?

Absolutely. Smaller days can be some of the most meaningful. Whether it’s an intimate wedding in Moray, a celebration with close family, or a simple ceremony followed by a proper good dinner, I photograph it the same way. Real moments, beautiful portraits, and the story of the day as it felt.

How far in advance should we book our wedding photographer?

As early as you can, especially if you’re marrying on a summer Saturday. Some dates go quickly, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. If you’re planning for 2026 or 2027, it’s worth checking availability early so you can book with confidence and move on to the fun parts.

How do we book you for our Elgin wedding?

Just send an enquiry through my contact form with your date, venue, and a bit about the day you’re planning. If I’m available, I’ll talk you through the collections, answer any questions, and make sure we’re the right fit. Once you’re ready, your date is secured with a booking fee and contract, and you’re all set.

When will we receive our wedding photos?

You’ll receive a carefully edited online gallery you can view, download, and share. Turnaround times vary by season, but I’ll always give you a clear expectation upfront. I also make sure everything is properly backed up, because your photos matter long after the day itself.

Do you travel outside Elgin for weddings?

Yes, all the time. Being based in Elgin makes it easy for me to cover Moray, the Highlands, Caithness, Inverness, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, and beyond. If your wedding’s elsewhere in Scotland, just tell me where and I’ll confirm everything clearly, including any travel details (travel costs are included in my main packages, but will apply to hourly rates outwith Moray).
