Ardoe House, nestled just outside Aberdeen, is a sight to behold. The gorgeous 19th-century mansion, surrounded by lush greenery, exudes charm and grandeur. It's the perfect blend of timeless elegance and countryside warmth, and every time I head there for a wedding, I can't help but feel that little spark of excitement.

If you still need to, Ardoe House is a beauty. The sprawling grounds and elegant interiors create a dream-like backdrop for a wedding day. And for me, as a photographer, it's a treasure trove of moments just waiting to be captured. I love how each couple brings style and energy to this space, turning it into something uniquely theirs, even while the historic charm remains the same.

One of my favourite things about photographing at Ardoe House is how the light plays through those big old windows. Whether it's the soft morning glow as the bride gets ready in one of their beautifully decorated rooms or the golden light streaming into the hall during the ceremony – it's pure magic. I try to blend in quietly, capturing those moments as naturally as possible, so when you look back, it's like reliving your day, just as it happened. And let's talk about those grounds! There's nothing quite like taking a stroll with the newlyweds across the lush green lawns, with the stunning façade of the house as a backdrop. There's always that perfect balance between formal elegance and laid-back countryside vibes. Some couples even choose to have a wee moment by the beautiful old trees, away from all the hustle and bustle of the celebrations. It's these quieter moments that I love to capture – the laughter, the gentle touches, and those little glances that say everything words can't.

Ardoe House isn't just a beautiful venue; it's a place that encourages a relaxed, joyful atmosphere. The staff there are excellent, always ensuring the couple and guests are well taken care of, making my job all the more enjoyable. When everyone's happy and relaxed, that energy shines through in the photos. And for me, that's all about capturing how the day looked and felt.

Ardoe House has over four spaces to accommodate weddings, from the more intimate to larger parties.

Ballroom Suite.

The largest is the Ballroom Suite, which offers a contemporary Scottish wedding and can accommodate up to 500 guests in the evening.

Ogston Suite.

Next up is the Ogston suite, which has direct access to the outdoor space and its bar with a large dance floor. It can accommodate up to 180 evening guests with a perfect view of the sunset (depending on the Scottish weather).

Fraser Suite and Elliot Suite.

Both these suites are for more intimate weddings, catering to up to 70 evening guests.

Wedding Photography at Ardoe House Hotel.

As your Aberdeen wedding photographer, I cover many weddings annually in Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire. Living in a central location gives me easy access to Ardoe House and other Aberdeen wedding venues.

Start your day at Ardoe House Hotel in a relaxed documentary style as you get ready with your bridesmaids with hair and makeup. I also capture photos of your dress and jewellery, and once you are all dressed and ready, I will capture some beautiful pictures of you all in some natural light or a fun moment with some bubbly.

Right before you set off, I will capture your Dad's first glimpse of you in your dress and a few with your parents.

With the ceremony over and during the drinks reception, I will complete your family group photos. Then, I will take you away to photograph your couple portraits around the grounds and in the house.

After your wedding meal, cut the cake and have the first dance. I usually stay for a dance or two and get right in amongst your guests to get action shots on the dance floor.

Ardoe House Hotel Wedding Photography Packages.

I've recently streamlined my Aberdeen wedding photography packages.

My first package is the Digital package, which is as it sounds. Start as you get ready and continue to your first dance or two. Once complete, I will deliver you photos in a password-protected gallery.

My Classic package is similar to the digital except it contains a handmade Italian wedding album alongside your gallery photos.

The best value option is my Premium package, packed with many extras, including a pre-wedding session with video highlights, a second photographer for all those candid moments, video highlights content, and an Italian handmade wedding album with two matching parent albums.
