Casey & Scott’s Twilight Wedding at Logie Country House

Casey first got in touch back in April 2025, asking if I was free for their twilight wedding at Logie Country House. I was, and she booked pretty quickly after I said so. That’s always a nice start. What I didn’t expect was the second message a few months later. Casey’s a teacher, and she wanted to know if I’d come in and speak to her S3 class about working in the creative industries. Of course I said yes. So in November 2025, I stood in front of a room of teenagers, talked them through my landscape, commercial, and wedding work, and took questions as we went. Some of them were sharper than the ones I get from adults. It was a good reminder of why I got into this in the first place, and by the time the wedding came round, Casey and I already knew each other well.

A later start at Logie.

The wedding was in July 2026, and with a 3 pm ceremony I got to Logie a bit later than usual. Because I stayed on to catch the party, the whole day felt different. No rushing. Bridal prep was a proper family affair. Kat, Casey’s sister-in-law, did hair, and one of Casey’s former pupils did make-up. There’s something lovely about being ready with people who know you. The room was relaxed and chatty, and that made my job easy. Then there was the dress. A friend made it, and it was gorgeous. I spent a bit of extra time on it because it deserved it.  I found Scott and his best man, Travis, in the pool. Don’t ask. I photographed it anyway, then caught the groomsmen getting ready once everyone was dry and dressed. Lila at Logie kept everything on track with timings all day, which meant nobody else had to think about it.

The Ceremony.

Neil Mellis led the ceremony, and he was brilliant. It was full of stories about Casey and Scott and plenty of laughs from the guests. Ceremonies like that are a gift for photographs, because people stop being self-conscious and just react.

Confetti, groups and a bit of time alone.

Straight after, we did a confetti shot on the stairs, then the big group shot of everyone, then into the family groups. I like to keep that part quick and organised so the couple can get back to their guests. After that, I took Casey and Scott out into the grounds for some time alone. Logie has so many quiet corners that you’re never short of options. Throughout it all, I picked up candid shots of guests, kids, drinks, and conversations. That’s usually where the real feel of a day comes through.

Evening at Logie.

Once the meal was done, we slipped out again for a few more couple portraits in the softer evening light. Then it was back inside for the evening guests and the dancing. I left around 11 pm with everyone in full party mode, which is exactly how it should be. Casey and Scott, thank you for having me, twice over. It was a pleasure to be part of your day, and I hope the class are still thinking about photography.
